Horton Plains National Park is a beautiful windswept plateau at 2,100 metres, sheltering Sri Lanka’s rarest wildlife. The legendary World’s End viewpoint drops sheer 880 metres to the plains below, best witnessed at dawn before cloud rolls in. Montane grasslands and cloud forest harbour leopards, sambar deer and 20 endemic bird species. The circular trail passing Baker’s Falls and Cloud Forest ranks among Sri Lanka’s finest short hikes.
